We have three new products to celebrate and honour here this season!
TWO NEW TEAS! Nourishing the body is ultimately important to our health at any time of year. New to our tea blends is the Whole Body Health Tea, which perfectly describes its purpose: to nourish and enhance the immune, lymph, adrenal, kidney and circulatory systems. It is blood cleansing, a perfect addition to any detox or cleanse at any time of year, or just as a tasty and healthy everyday tea. Nettles, Red Clover, Horsetail, Alfalfa, Anise Hyssop, Licorice Root, and Echinacea Root make up this blend, all organically grown or ethically wildcrafted with your health and the health of the planet in mind. The Whole Body Health Tea is cleansing and tasty to boot!

Another new tea is our Mother's Essential Tea blend. While we have had Mama's Tea for a long while now, which is a nice blend to nourish a pregnant or breastfeeding mama (and baby!), the Mother's Essential Tea is designed to help increase breast milk production, quality and flow. Blessed Thistle and Fennel are the main active ingredients that act to stimulate breast milk production and improve its quality, while Red Raspberry Leaf, Nettle, Alfalfa nourish the entire body, and Monarda (aka Bee Balm), Anise Hyssop, Mint and Rose add natural, nourishing flavour. Soothing and healthful for Mom, and good for baby too! As always with Gillian's Herbs, our tea ingredients are organically grown or ethically wildcrafted with you and the Earth in mind, most of them by ourselves here on our farm.

NEW THROAT SPRAY: Perfect for carrying around in a purse or briefcase, having one in the car or backpack while you're on the go, or in your desk or medicine cabinet is our new Throat Spray. This is flavoured with pure Pomagranate paste, an anti-oxidant in itself, and made up of anti-bacterial, anti-viral, immune-stimulating, germ-killing herbal tinctures of organically grown Echinacea purpurea and angustifolia Roots, Licorice Root, Thyme, Elecampane Root, and Ginger Root.

Our featured tinctures for this season are two of our most popular Tonics: the Adrenal Tonic and the Immune Tonic. The star of both of these formulas is Astragalus membranaceus root, best known for its ability to nourish, stimulate and tonify the immune system. Astragalus is reported to help prevent colds, flus, mononucleosis, pneumonia, and other infections, as well as help improve appetite and reduce general fatigue and overall exhaustion. It has also gained recent popularity with its ability to help prevent immunosuppression following chemotherapy and radiation treatment, and is even known to have tumour-inhibiting powers. Other uses include enhancing the cardiovascular system, the kidneys, spleen, and liver function (reference: Adaptogens by David Winston and Steven Maimes). I highly recommend both of these tonics to those that often catch colds, have difficulty recovering from illness, have been in the hospital or are about to go into one, who are travelling, and to those suffering from adrenal burnout and general fatigue.

Gillian's Herbs is also pleased and tickled pink that our union with the Lillooet Wellness Centre is a growing success. The Lillooet Wellness Centre is a wonderful healing centre consisting of registered Massage Therapists, Jin Shin Do practitioners, Myofascial Release therapists, counselling, spa-like facials, an infrared sauna, and more along those lines as time goes on. On a personal note, we have embarked on a life-long dream adventure: designing and building our very own straw-bale house using a modified post and beam structure, with a masonry heater. This is on our own land, which we are slowly converting from an abandoned meadow into a permacultural oasis. We are open to mentoring keen and active helpers on this project, which we had great success and fun with in 2008! Such is our vibrant, exciting and colourful life! With the warm welcome help of apprentices, I continue to enjoy making herbal preparations for our customers, many of them loyal for over 15 years now. I am also proud to continue to insist on including our ingredients with every product's description, since I believe that sharing this information is more important to you and your health than keeping a "trade" secret is for me.
