Welcome

Happy Spring 2008! We look forward to it for its renewed inspiration, the time to fulfil winter's dreams, the increase in light and warmth. We also hope to be saying goodbye to the "season of cold and flus", soon anyhow. Just to be on the safe side, this season we are featuring our Cold Relief tincture, made with our own Echinacea angustifolia & purpurea roots, Thyme, both from our organic gardens; Cleavers and Yarrow, both locally harvested with care. This blend is superb at warding off colds, best taken when you start to feel that tickle in your throat, that all knowing feeling that you are coming down with something. If you do "catch" a cold, treat the symptoms with this blend, and take the time to rest if you can. Also featured this season is our Sleep Tonic, made with our own Valerian Root, Skullcap and Hops. An excellent blend for those who suffer from insomnia, or simply for those occasional nights when the mind just won't shut off and the body is restless. (Popular belief says that Valerian is related to Valium and is habit forming, however, this is untrue). The third in the trio of featured tinctures is the Allergy Relief blend that is just that, made with Nettle, Oregon Grape Root, Dandelion Root, Yarrow, Calendula and Chickweed. This blend can be helpful in reducing or eliminating "hay fever" and spring allergies, by stimulating your liver and immune system. To celebrate spring, these 3 tincture blends are ON SALE: 50 mL reg.$14, now $12, and 100 mL reg. $23, now $21.

Featured this month as well is our favourite condiment, Mineral Mix. This is a tasty (and highly nutritional) blend of Nutritional Yeast, Nettle*, Spirulina*, Kelp*, Garlic* and Sesame seeds* (*organically grown/ethically wildcrafted). Its great as a source of easily digestible minerals and vitamins, sprinkled on eggs, rice, veggies, in soups and salad dressings, but really, its best on Popcorn! Just ask the kids!

Gillian's Herbs is also pleased and tickled pink to announce a union of sorts with the Lillooet Wellness Centre, a wonderful multidisciplinary healing centre offering treatments with registered Massage Therapists, and practitioners in Intergrated Energy Healing; Myofascial Release; Acupressure - Jin Shin Do; clinical counselling; spa-like facials; and, they have an infrared sauna, and plans for more wellness services in the future. On a personal level, we are embarking on a life-long dream adventure: designing and building our very own straw-bale house using a modified post and beam structure, with a masonry heater.
